What the Detected panel shows

The Detected panel shows the verses that the preacher quotes or retells, and verses close to what the preacher says. FlowCast compares each sentence with each verse of the KJV, NKJV, NIV, ESV, NLT, and AMPC, and with the clauses of long KJV verses.

FlowCast also finds a verse when a run of the words occurs in exactly one KJV verse. Some examples are “gave gifts unto men” and “the joy of the Lord is your strength”.

When no verse clearly matches better than all the others, the closest verse shows, if it is close enough. Its match then shows Possible. A sentence that is not about the Bible, such as an announcement, usually shows no verse.

Later speech or prayer does not remove earlier matches. But corrections still replace matches from words that changed. The list keeps up to 500 verses until you close FlowCast.

Words that introduce a quote

After words that introduce a quote, FlowCast always shows a verse: the verse closest to the words that follow. Some examples of these words are:

  • “the Bible says”
  • “it is written”
  • “according to the scriptures”
  • “God’s word says”
  • “Jesus said”
  • “thus says the Lord”.

The quote can start in the next statement, after a short pause. A statement can introduce more than one quote, and FlowCast looks for each one. While the preacher speaks, FlowCast looks again two times each second. A better verse then replaces a Possible verse of the same words.

Show a detected passage

Detected passages do not go live until you select one and send it live.

  1. Click a passage in the Detected tab. The preview shows all its verses on one slide.
  2. Double-click the passage to send it live.

If a passage has more than one verse, you can show one verse on each slide:

  1. Click a passage in the Detected tab.
  2. In the Preview tab bar, click Split verses.
  3. Click Go live in the top bar, or push Enter.

After a split, do not double-click the passage. A double-click selects the passage again, and the preview shows all the verses on one slide again.

You can also right-click a passage to send it live, show it in the preview, or add it to the schedule.

The search models and the verse index come with FlowCast, and the search operates offline. A search takes less than a quarter of a second. Named references do not wait for these models.

The search of the Detected panel is on at first. It uses CPU and memory while FlowCast listens. To turn off the search:

  1. Click the Settings button in the top bar.
  2. Click Transcript.
  3. Turn off Detect passages.

Caution: If FlowCast becomes slow on a slow computer, turn off Detect passages.

When you turn off Detect passages, FlowCast hides the Detected panel and releases the memory of the search models. When FlowCast starts with Detect passages on, it shows the Detected panel.
